“MANJU KAPUR” is notable Author of India born in Amritsar. She completes her M.A. from the “Dalhousie University” Canada 1972 and later M. Phil from Delhi University. She won the “Commonwealth writers’prize” for her first novel “DIFFICULT DAUGHTERS” in 1999 and “The Immigrant” novel shortlisted for “DSC PRIZE FOR SOUTH ASIAN LITERATURE” in 2011. Manju Kapur in this book tells the story at the time of partition. The central character of this novel is “Virmati”, a woman who born in high moral or intellectual value household and tangled among the family duties. But she has own dreams and also in love with the professor who is already married that makes her family against her. Later she gets married to him but as the movies, this story does not end with a happy ending. it is ahead of this where Virmati faces lots of challenges that make this book outstanding.
